Proxies offer many benefits to your network, such as extra security and bandwidth savings. They are a common feature in business and educational settings, however you can also set them up at home if your connection speed becomes slower. Windows 10’s Settings app and Control Panel are where you can manage proxy settings. If you are using an internet proxy for school or work, you should make sure that the Use automatic detection of settings is turned on and the Use setup script option is on in the Automatic Proxy Setup section.
To change your settings manually To change your settings manually, open the Internet Options window via the Control Panel or by searching for «Internet options» in the search bar. Click the Advanced tab and then open the LAN settings. Input the proxy provider’s information in the Address and Port fields. Then, tick the box that says Use an external proxy server for your LAN, and close the Internet Options window.
Malware can mess up your network proxy settings and block you from getting online. If the error message «Windows couldn’t automatically detect this network’s proxy settings» continues and you are still getting the error, run a scan with an anti-malware software and try to determine if that helps.
If the problem persists, try resetting the proxy settings via the Registry. Be cautious, as altering the Registry can cause irreparable system damage.
